The 2026 World Power Battery Conference (WPBC) will take place from September 3 to 4 in Yibin, Sichuan Province, marking the fifth consecutive year the city hosts this premier global industry event.
Since its debut in 2022, the World Power Battery Conference has established itself as China's only internationally influential conference dedicated to the power battery sector. Over four successful sessions, the event has attracted more than 1,100 key enterprises and nearly 7,000 distinguished guests, with nearly 700 new technologies and products unveiled. Major projects signed during previous conferences total over 400, representing investments approaching RMB 380 billion.

This year's conference adopts the theme "Powering All, Integrating for Shared Growth" and features a "1+1+8+N" program structure — one opening ceremony, one general assembly, eight thematic sessions, and multiple concurrent activities. Over 70% of the agenda focuses on technological breakthroughs and industrial implementation, with dedicated sessions covering solid-state battery commercialization, power battery low-carbon certification, global lithium supply chain security, and long-term energy storage safety.
A highlight of this year's event is the appointment of Spain as the Guest Country of Honor. The conference will feature a Spain pavilion, a China-Spain industry cooperation exchange, and the launch ceremony for the international battery sector green supply chain project. These initiatives aim to deepen cross-border industrial collaboration. High-level international participation includes senior officials from the Embassy of Spain in China, consular officials from various nations, academicians from Chinese and foreign academies, representatives from UNIDO and other international organizations, and executives from Samsung SDI, Panasonic Corporation, China Changan, Chery Automobile, EVE Energy, and Sunwoda.

More than 120 industry-leading Chinese and international companies, including Tesla, CATL, and BYD, will present their cutting-edge products and technologies at the conference. Nearly 600 distinguished guests have confirmed their attendance. The conference will also release authoritative outcomes including the "Power Battery Industry Development Index (2026)" and the "Power Battery Technology Roadmap".
The conference extends beyond automotive applications, exploring power battery integration with construction machinery, low-altitude economy, and embodied intelligence. Demonstration scenarios covering zero-carbon parks, energy storage, and artificial intelligence will be showcased, and the first "Yibin-made" robot project is accelerating toward completion.

China's power battery industry continues its remarkable growth trajectory. Installed capacity surged from 63.6 GWh in 2020 to 769.7 GWh in 2025. From January to July 2026 alone, the industry recorded sales of 790.4 GWh, a 37.1% year-on-year increase, with exports reaching 146.7 GWh, up 52.1%. The industry has built a complete supply chain covering upstream mineral resources to recycling, with battery energy density now reaching 210Wh/kg for LFP and 300Wh/kg for ternary batteries.
The 2026 World Power Battery Conference serves as a vital platform for global dialogue, bringing together policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders to address shared challenges and drive sustainable development across the power battery ecosystem.
